A Cascade of White

White Garden 02
White cascades down in this easy-to-assemble garden design

A white garden that cascades down is simple to build if you have the following ingredients. Assembly is straightforward—the garden is just four stripes for four plants and can easily be adjusted to fit into curves or odd shapes. For a freestanding version, turn the Cleome into a large stand and wrap everything around it in a loose circle:

  • High = Cleome ‘Senorita Blanca’
  • Middle High = Gomphrena ‘Las Vegas White’
  • Middle Low = Impatiens ‘SunPatiens Compact White’
  • Low and Trailing = Dichondra ‘Silver Falls’

CLE Seniorita Blanca
Cleome ‘Senorita Blanca’ can be used as the center of a freestanding white garden

It becomes even more interesting if you mix in items that reflect your own personality like rocks, sculptures, small trees, or other objects with visual interest. This site happens to be partial shade, getting strong sun only in the morning but this garden layout works equally well in full sun.
