Angelonia ‘Angelface® Wedgewood’

Angelface Wedgewood 03

We’re always interested in a versatile shade of blue, and ‘Angelface Wedgewood’ is certainly that. This summer snapdragon has a strong upright habit, reaching about 2 feet high and producing dramatic spikes of indigo blooms with white lower petals. Its season-long flower power is accompanied by fine, fragrant foliage that remains green from spring through late summer.

Blue flowers, like a pair of blue jeans, go with just about anything. We like using ‘Wedgewood’ for height behind shorter flowering annuals in bright pink, orange, or even red. For a classic look we pair it with only white, the way we dress up our Levis with a button-down shirt. Plants with chartreuse foliage, like Ipomoea ‘Marguerite’ or Coleus ‘Wasabi’, make the blue stand out and appear even more vibrant.

Blue is considered a cool color, evoking calm, relaxed feelings. We appreciate a serene vibe in the garden, but ‘Wedgewood’ also makes an effective thriller in containers and is eye-catching when planted en masse. It’s heat and drought tolerant and performs best in full sun.

We have ‘Angelface® Wedgewood’ in both the 4.5 and 8-inch pot sizes.
