Dianthus Floral Lace Series
Dianthis ‘Floral Lace Light Pink’
‘Floral Lace Merlot Mix’ has worked out well for us so we’ve expanded our line to include several other cultivars from the series. We got hooked on these big blooms—the largest of any chinensis x barbatus dianthus. Plus, like the chinensis, Floral Lace varieties crank out an abundance of flowers, and like the barbatus they thrive in cooler temperatures.
Plants in this series can take the heat as well, and stay neat and tidy. At 8–10 inches high they see a lot of use at the front of the border. We like to mix them with angelonia and pansies; now that we have a range of individual colors there’s a bit more flexibility when planning a design. Notice the lacy, serrated petals (hence the name)—great for adding texture and bumping up the interest.
Dianthis ‘Floral Lace White’ en masse
Our new selections include: ‘Picotee’ (magenta flowers with lacy white edges), ‘Purple’, ‘Rose’ (vibrant rose-pink), ‘White’, ‘Crimson’, ‘Light Pink’, and ‘Lilac’. We also have ‘Hearts of Fire’ (a mix of red, white, and picotee) in addition to ‘Merlot Mix’ (red, pink, and white).
All of our Floral Lace dianthus selections come in the 1203 flat.
