Geranium ‘Boldly™ Dark Red’
Previously known as ‘Calliope™ Dark Red’, it boldly goes where other geraniums fear to tread—performing reliably in the hottest, driest summer conditions and even bouncing back after a rainstorm. Big, bold blooms of intense deep red keep coming and coming right up until frost—no wonder they changed the name.
‘Boldly™ Dark Red’ is a cross between a zonal and an ivy geranium so it has a semi-trailing, mounding habit. Plants grow 10–12 inches tall—about a foot shorter than the popular Rocky Mountain series—so they’re versatile. We use them wherever we need a color boost: in all types of containers as well as in the landscape.
Grouped together in a mass planting these richly colored flowers are eye-catching, even from across the street or way up yonder. They love the sun and are fairly low-maintenance—deadheading is necessary to keep the blooms coming.
We grow ‘Boldly™ Dark Red’ in the 8-inch pot.
