The Easter Rush

Pansy-YellowClients are starting to build up their inventories for Open Houses and the general Easter traffic. Take a walk with me through the greenhouses to see some of the interesting color available to take back to your place and make it a little more special:

FANCY DAFFODILS

fancy-daffodils3

The fancy daffodils we featured in our Early Spring Idea Book are ready. In about three days the first wave will start to bloom and we will have batches ready for Easter as well. The supply is somewhat limited, so get your order in for these bulbs as soon as possible.

REGAL GERANIUMS IN 6.5-INCH POTS

Regal-geranium

Also featured in our Early Spring Idea Book are the Regals, geraniums that thrive in the cooler early spring season. All of them look exceptionally nice with big full heads and lots of color. These extra special geraniums make great gift baskets or a nice display mixed in with smaller Easter lilies.

DESIGNER PANSIES

Pandora-Box

All of our pansies are exploding with color right now, but if you are looking for something extra special, consider the Watercolor series. These pansies feature a stained area on their faces where the colors blend together. We also like ‘Pandora’s Box’, with its warm range of tones. Among the violas we recommend ‘Banana Crème’, with its bright, sunny disposition.

We’ve also done a nice job with our pansy baskets, specially the Cool Waves in Frost, Yellow, White and Violet Wing. For decks, porches and walkways we have a large number of 10-inch pansy color bowls to choose from now.

EARLY SNAPDRAGONS IN TRAYS AND POTSSnapdragos

Our early snapdragons are looking nice and strong with big buds on them. The whites are just starting to open; the other colors are only a few days behind the whites.

SPRING AZALEAS IN 6.5-INCH

Azaleas

Azaleas are right where they need to be, just opening up now. We feature the popular series of pinks (‘Gloria’ is salmon; ‘Rodriguez’ is a middle pink and ‘Claudia’ is the hot one) and our interesting bi-colors are back as well (‘Deloose’ is salmon bi-color and ‘Jean’ is pink and white bi-color). Representing the deep reds we have ‘Friedheim’.

ALSO NOTEWORTHY

hydrangeas

We have a large supply of prime hyacinths in two sizes, including ‘Gypsy Queen’—it’s a distinctive salmon color.

Our hydrangeas are exceptionally good-looking this year. They ship in 7.5-inch pots.

Yellow linaria is just starting to get color and it looks good. Grown in 6-inch pots, it has turned out well as an early spring color crop. We offer this variety to those garden centers that like to trial material along with us.

We still have 6-inch tulips to offer—perfect for dramatic Open House displays. You can count on tulips to announce that spring is here. Be sure to take a look at ‘Monte Carlo Yellow’—it’s a double yellow and a personal favorite.
